Bee Pollen for Weight Loss – Really?

Anyone who's looking to lose weight will surely have heard about Bee pollen. It's starting to gain a reputation as a super food with many other benefits to boot. One of the benefits is weight loss and weight management. So how can bee pollen help to shed those unwanted pounds? In this video presentation, Paul Beaudette explains all.

My Notes

Whenever we think of weight gain, the first thing people conjure up in their minds is sugar, fat and carbohydrates. This makes honey an unlikely ally in the fight to lose and maintain a healthy weight. After all, its carbohydrate content is 82g per 100g. The sugar content is also at 82g per 100g.

OK, the first thing to clear up is that bee pollen is not the same thing as bee honey. Yes they both come from honey bees and yes, bee pollen is also edible, like honey, and sold as a health food product. But bee pollen is the bread of the hive, whereas honey is the milk. Pollen is a fine to coarse powdery substance. It's made of pollen grains mixed with nectar or honey and digestive enzymes. Honey is the sweet liquid made by bees using nectar from flowers. So it's the bee's pollen, not their honey that assists weight loss and weight management.

Five of the key health benefits of pollen are:

  1. Boosts the immune system.
  2. Prevents and treats several diseases.
  3. Energizes the body and keeps the mind alert.
  4. Detoxifies the body.
  5. Aids weight loss and weight management.

It's estimated that around 60 percent of Americans are now overweight or clinically obese. Most other western nations are not far behind either. Obesity is now one of the main causes of ill health worldwide.

Bee pollen can assist with weight loss in the following ways:

  • Stimulates metabolism, which in turn speeds up calorie burn.
  • Corrects chemical imbalances in metabolism that cause people to gain weight.
  • Helps to regulate appetite (as a result of the above).

Summary

When taken as suggested, bee pollen can reduce food cravings and speed up fat burn. It also balances metabolism and boosts energy and stamina. The way to get bee pollen into the diet is via granules, capsules and even chewable tablets. Bee pollen granules can be mixed with just about any kind of food.
